Asking your friends to also sign!

Because of COVID-19, the best way to help is with relational organizing
(asking people you already know to help out doing something)

The current priority is collecting 1,000 signatures from across the state so the Elections Division will ask the Attorney General to draft a ballot title.

>> To help collect more signatures by reaching out to people you already know

>> To submit a signature sheet request for for someone else

>> To help by raising money to cover campaign costs

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask us!

TO help collect more signatures

1. Call your Oregon friends (“relational organizing”)

Call friends across the state and let them know why you think the Oregon People’s Rebate is great. During these times, it’s a great way to connect with people!

Some things you might mention when talking about the Oregon People’s Rebate:

  • You are calling about the Oregon People’s Rebate, a ballot initiative for 2022 (not 2020) that you support and have already submitted your signature to help get it on the ballot, and you’d like them to do the same!
    1. With the Oregon People’s Rebate, every Oregonian every year will be eligible to get a rebate of about $750.
      • If you know the size of your friend’s household, do some quick math or look it up under Deep Dive:
        • 1-person household, about $750
        • 2-person household, about $1,500
        • 3-person household, about $2,250
        • 4-person household, about $3,000
        • Etc.
      • The only requirement is to live in Oregon more than 200 days of the year.
    2. The money comes from the largest and most successful corporations doing business in Oregon (like Comcast, Bank of America, etc.)
      • Only corporations with more than $25 million of revenue in Oregon would be affected.
      • $25 million per year works out to about $68,493 every single day of the year, most locally-owned businesses are nowhere near this! (In fact, there’s only about 2,000 such businesses in Oregon.)
  • Oregonians registered to vote can download or request a signature sheet with stamped return envelope be mailed to them at www.opr2022.org/sign

It might be easier for you to submit a signature sheet request for them.

  • Ask your friend if they would like you to submit a signature sheet request for them.
  • Let them know to expect an envelope in a couple of days!
  • Ask for a quick plan to follow through, for example, “so if you get the signature sheet in a few days, you think that you’ll be able to get the signature sheet back in the mail by next ___?” (This will help give you an idea of when to follow up to see if they received the signature sheet and if they have questions about it.)
