The Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) believe that “working people should run both the economy and society democratically to meet human needs, not to make profits for a few.” They are not a political party. They are an activist organization that utilizes a variety of tactics to fight for reforms that empower people. Understandably, many DSA members support the Oregon People’s Rebate and the local Eugene chapter has taken it upon itself to organize phone banking sessions this Sunday.
From Eugene DSA:
We have some exciting opportunities this weekend to get involved in our organizing work. Please RSVP so we know many people to expect for each event! These include:
“Phonebanking (and the potential for textbanking) for the Oregon People’s Rebate to get signature sheets into the hands of everyday Oregon voters. This opportunity gives those who’d prefer not to canvass in-person a great way to help out our campaign from your own home! No experience is required and we’ll have a training at the start of each session.
“RSVP Sunday 02/20 11am-1pm – Phonebank Session #1 for the Oregon People’s Rebate
“RSVP Sunday 02/20 1pm-3pm – Phonebank Session #2 for the Oregon People’s Rebate“
A sincere thanks to Eugene DSA for stepping up to the plate on their own to organize their members to help our historic campaign to rebate every Oregonian about $750 a year by taxing Big Wall Street corporations that earn more than $25 million annually in our state. It’s clear that wealthy corporations are taking advantage of their political power and ability to find tax loopholes to shirk their responsibility to the very people that make their record-breaking profits possible.
All across Oregon, great people are stepping up to uplift everyday people and to invest in our local communities. If you are able to join Eugene DSA this Sunday, please RSVP through them as textbanking is a very convenient way to reach voters and potential initiative signers. Also, please join our movement to stay up-to-date on all of the opportunities available to help our people-powered campaign and spread the word to your friends and family.
